House Vegetarian Burger-Freidman's Lunch

Rice Bowl

We went to Freidman's Lunch on the advice of Paul's parents who we're lucky to say visited New York just weeks before we did and gave us lots of recommendations for our long weekend. Sadly, their experience was better than ours. Paul had the housemade veggie burger with tomato, fennel jam, avocado, and a side of herbed fries. The fries weren't special, but the burger definitely was. I chose to be different and ordered the rice bowl. It came with brown rice, bean sprouts, edamame, carrots, cilantro, mint, sesame lime dressing, peanuts. It was dry and smelled and tasted burned even though it didn't look like it. Normally, I would blame it on pregnancy (Remember, this was back in December at 30 weeks.), but even Paul said it tasted funny, Luckily, I have a sweet husband who shared his sandwich with me.

The conclusion: New York is too big and too full of fantastic restaurants to spend time on mediocre ones. I'd say, if veggie burgers are the only that peaks your interest, visit Freidman's. Otherwise, pass.

Menu for Week of November 2

Dirty Dishes

Obviously, the dirty dishes pictured aren't from this past week. We dirtied very few additional dishes in our effort to empty out the fridge, which was lovely for my aching feet and tough work schedule this week.

Finally, on Friday, I spent 5 hours in the kitchen cooking up some lovely goodies for the weekend. Photos and stories will be coming up in the next few days. That being said, I never made it to the grocery store last week and will be cooking from my increasingly (but intentionally) dwindling selections in the pantry and freezer. That being said, my Monday menu plan seems sparse, but as always, is subject to change if a) the temperature in Florida goes down enough for me to get away with making a soup or b) a surprise comes with a tempting idea at the grocery store. Luckily, these are items we haven't had in a while (even if they were originally on the menu).

We visited this recently opened restaurant attached to the Altamonte Springs Mall on recommendation of our good friends, The Wooleys. We enjoy having friends who think of us every time they eat out. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The tables built in the immediate bar area where in a circle and had very good acoustics. The staff was polite and food was delivered speedily.
