A Lunch of Wendy's Baked Potato

Wendy's Baked Potato

I believe I have already mentioned the fact that no matter what creative items I have packed for my lunch to brown-bag-it for work, I can't seem to bring myself to eat it when I actually get to work. Talk about lack of self-discipline! I hope this isn't a permanent change that comes with pregnancy! I'd been craving a pretty loaded baked potato. So, on Thursday, I left the office in between patients to drive the block to Wendy's to pick up a baked potato at the drive-thru and return back for the afternoon load. Shows you how long it's been since I've eaten fast food, I remembered a chive baked potato costing $0.99. The price tag for the potato and the even more necessary at this point, ice water, ran $3.58. Yikes! Again, there goes our food budget.

Here's my review of the potato: It hit the spot! I just wish it had been bigger cause it really went down well. One of the great things about the potato is that you can get it with grated cheese instead of with a cheese sauce that is generally nasty in flavor and quality. The potato was nicely cooked and larger than the potatoes I remember last having at Wendy's (when they were still $0.99). The broccoli wasn't overcooked even though it wasn't a bright green color, and there were mainly florets instead of stems. Sadly, I did order chives and the broccoli and cheese, but I guess either the girl misunderstood or the potato can't come that way. Minor issue. I wasn't proud of the deduction on my credit card, but the potato got me through the remainder of my busy day and was nearly worth the price because of the quality of the toppings and how well it was cooked. I'll always have a reasonably healthy (very healthy compared to the local pizza joint, but not as healthy as, say, a sweet potato) backup the remainder of my pregnancy days at the Apopka office.

Hi Amanda. I know this post

Hi Amanda. I know this post is old, but wanted to let you know that most Wendy's still have sour cream and chive baked potatos for $0.99. It's the broccoli and cheddar ones that will set you back a few dollars.
