Review of Mrs. May's Trio Bar

Mrs. May's Trio Blueberry

A Mrs. May's Trio Bar

These bars were a gift from some friends as a trade-off for helping review their website for usability. I was happy to learn Costco carries these bars because I used to get the little bite-sized squares by Mrs. May's of crunchy peanuts and dried strawberries. They were so good. These bars are just as delightful and just as crunchy. I had a strawberry one when Paul had the blueberry one pictured above. Also, there is a cranberry and tropical variety.

One of the greatest things about this bar is the short list of mostly healthy, natural ingredients (How do you feel about "Evaporated Cane Juice?") that seem to pack lots of nutrients into such a small bar. Iron is 10%, Calcium 6%, Fiber 3g and Protein 6g. If you're looking for a tasty nutrition bar to replace, say, SoyJoy this just might be what you're looking.

I love the Trio Bars, they

I love the Trio Bars, they are delicious! But I noticed the wrapper says Made in China. Should I be concerned about that? Does anyone know what exactly is made in China?

Yes, sadly my husband and I

Yes, sadly my husband and I just read "product of China" on the label. I was sure that these bars were made in the USA. It's not so and our trust level of foods processed in China is nil. We have been buying these bars for some time now and have talked many of our friends into trying them. They are definitely very tasty and are made of whole seeds, nuts and fruit. A wonderful combo. But we are returning our unopened boxes to the store.

Hey don't be so

Hey don't be so discriminative! it's the company's choice to have it made there and it will be their choice to decide wether or not to make it really healthy. just because it says made in China doesn't mean it's bad.

Why is it that Mrs. May's

Why is it that Mrs. May's bars are made in China? Is it really that much cheaper? I wouldn't feed my dog products from China, why would I then eat such products myslef? Can we really trust the Chinese to produce safe, enviornmentally friendly products? I'll take my Mrs. May's bars back to Costco! No thanks!

not all chinese products are

not all chinese products are bad. stop being so ignorant.
if you are so anti chinese... stop buying and using everything. dont even shop at costco, mostly everything there is made in china. take off your shoes, they are made there too.
not all american food is safe either, every country makes a mistake now and then.
if you are too worried, then grow your own food, cook it at home and then when you get sick, sue yourself.

Until they fix their concern

Until they fix their concern for quality control over profits, food processing in China is similar to the peanut mfg plants in America who looked the other way at horrendous conditions. I would never eat food products made in China till they address that problem. Those who say it is ok are playing with a loaded gun in my opinion. These bars should not be made in China. Dumb. And the only way to get them to make them safe is to not buy.

I wish that so many products

I wish that so many products were not made in China. When I have the option to purchase from another country, I prefer that. Country of origin weighs in my purchase decision. Sometimes, I do choose a chinese made product.

However, purchasing a tool, toy or a pair of shoes is one thing. Purchasing a food product is another. Chinese manufacturers have a reputation, real or perceived, of scurting rules and buying off officials.

How can a U.S. company monitor every step of the process to ensure purity? Who do they rely on for that verification? What kind of pesticides and fertilizers are used to grow the crops they use to make their bars? Are they transported in clean vessels? Too many questions for me. I choose not to purchase food products from China. Not even for my cat.

So Amazon.com was having a

So Amazon.com was having a sale on the 20 bar variety box. It came down to 10 dollars for the 20 pack bars. That was a great deal! It was featured in the gold box. For those of you who are not familiar with amazon buying. Everyday there's a random item put for the gold box which basically sells for a ridiculous low price.

Anyway... I had tried their other products and I loved them. What I like best about these is that they come in their package and hence you can control your eating. Unlike the big bags, you find yourself chowing them down.

However, like everyone else, just now I came across the label, "Product of China." Immediately, red flags popped and I am so happy I only bought one box when I was tempted to buy several. Hmm... reminds me of the whey protein powder I was buying at GNC. I was told it was made from China and I completely stopped buying and went to Muscle Fitness. Who knows what percentage of the powder is non Whey or worst a harmful chemical.

I, too, was sad when reading

I, too, was sad when reading the label that it was a product of China. I threw the rest of the box away as it's just not worth the risks. It's too bad that "fair wages" and "cheap wages" are at odds here...but to be fair, that's capitalism, I guess.
