A few weeks ago, I excitedly clipped a $1.50 coupon for a Kraft Salad Dressing out of the newspaper. I'm not obsessed with using coupons, but if there's a coupon for something I really want, I'm gonna use it. The salad dressings were $1.58 at Walmart, which meant I would pay just $0.08 for my bottle of Peppercorn Ranch Salad Dressing. Sadly, Walmart was out of my preferred store-bought dressing. But, I came across this new Green Goddess dressing, which rang a bell because the vegan restaurant, Dandelion Cafe, uses a vegan dressing by the same name. I took a chance, and was glad I did.
The first time I served the dressing was as a condiment for a salad wrap with Morningstar Farms Italian Herb "Chicken," which I had purchased for 50% off at Publix. For $0.50, i sliced a pattie into strips after toasting it to warm, and added 5g protein to our wraps without the high saturated fat and cholesterol of regular meat. Plus, the chicken already came nicely flavored, and I wasn't concerned about how to cook it.
Under the chicken was a bed of lettuce, tomato, and asparagus. The sandwich was altogether yummy and really inexpensive with my two great deals!
I do recommend the Kraft Green Goddess salad dressing for dipping carrots (my dad really enjoyed that part) and for a different kind of condiment. I also recommend the Italian herb chicken patties, which I slice into strips for serving on pizzas and salads. I haven't used the chicken as a straight burger patty. Instead, I'm using it in places that show it is easy to exchange real meat for a vegetarian product.
Incidentally, two other popular items in our household are the tortilla chips and Kirkland Organic Salsa shown in the picture. I'm not super good at finding and purchasing organic products, I just love this salsa!
