The idea for this refreshing "Last Rose of Summer" drink came as I was reading a Southern-style cookbook at Tuesday Morning. I had the ingredients and it seemed like a great way to stop and think back on the summer and look forward toward winter. I made enough for about 6 servings. It was just strong enough to leave room for adding sparkling water for that extra kick.
Recipe for Strawberry Lemonade
- 4 lemons, juiced
- 6 frozen strawberries, whole
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 10 fresh mint leaves (optional)
Pour all ingredients into a blender. Blend until well mixed. Pour into pitcher. Add another 1 1/2-2 cups water. Stir. The drink will be frothy and will require time to settle. Always remember to shake the pitcher to re-mix the drink before serving. Putting the strawberry lemonade in a glass pitcher allows you to watch the beautiful color separation. What wonderful memories. . .Sigh!

Strawberry Lemonade is popular. The fresher the ingredients, the better. I will try to remember to make some for her next time you guys are around.
