This is often a favorite lunch spot of us in Winter Park, Florida. It is very close to the hospital where Paul works and near shopping areas I may visit on my days off. The selling point of this restaurant is a relaxed atmosphere with outside eating, a selection of sandwiches and salads, and their amazing creation of smoothies--with or without yogurt.

Our experience with Powerhouse Cafe has been consistently good. Perhaps the service is a tad slow, but the food is definitely worth it. They have avocado sandwiches in season, and fabulous egg salad sandwiches. There is a Mediterranean platter with hommus, tabouleh, and falafel. However, these can be made into sanwiches, too. Paul and his folks had a falafel sandwich. The egg salad can be made into a club with cheese.

The smoothies are always a success. My favorites are Strawberry, with apples, bananas, and strawberries and Berry Blast with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Paul likes any one with peanut butter.

I estimate the per person meal cost at $15. Naturally, I imagine I can make similar items at home, but for a healthy lunch out when you're short on time and forgot the BYO lunch, this is the way to go.
