This is another restaurant my parents especially love. My grandmother wanted to go their two days in a row. In fact, the guacamole and salsa have to be very high on the excellent meter. Both are made fresh daily, which means sometimes the salsa is so hot I cry, but it's so good, I just can't stop! I remember once my father and I went together. Normally he likes hot things. But that day he couldn't stand the salsa and asked me why I kept eating it. For some reason I said, "It's not that hot." I paid for that later.
Half of a menu page is a list of vegetarian combos. I suppose they are available a la carte, too. I have had the potato taquitos, which are mashed potatoes wrapped in a small corn wrap and deep fried. They are good. But, I think my favorite is the cheese enchilada and mashed potato burrito with a side of rice. The white cheese is not monterey jack, but more like the cheese I have had at other Mexican restaurants with a more "white American" cheese taste. It often doesn't feel as heavy as yellow cheese. There are different sauces, which add to the excitement of the combo dish. The red and the verde sauce are mild, but have rich flavor. Paul had a tostada, potato burrito, and chile relleno. His was the first complaint we have ever had in our visits because his relleno had trouble (we didn't complain to the waitress), but he ate everything else.
And for dessert, we had fried ice cream because my grandmother had never had any before. It was large enough to feed all five of us with some left over! I think it's safe to say it was a good experience for all.
