Let's just say I'm really glad I wasn't footing the bill for this adventure. A drug company wanted to host a Happy Hour, and I casually mentioned that Citrus was a new and popular restaurant. I hope they don't hold it against me.
Firstly, there was only one vegetarian appetizer available, Grilled Vegetable Flatbread. The bottom was actually greasy! The purpose of having flatbread is to have a less greasy pizza. There were supposed to be grilled squash and zucchini, and possibly peppers, on it. Found the peppers. There might have been one 2 mm x 2 mm cube of the squash and zucchini on each square of flatbread. I felt the dish was totally without flavor and had little eye appeal.
Now, because it was a company meal, I did not order an entree and did not hang around long enough to order a salad. A coworker had a salad with literally a quarter of a head of lettuce laying on its side, drizzled with a small amount of white dressing and topped with about one tablespoon of bacon bits. I suppose it was supposed to be an unusual way to serve, but it didn't seem practical or appealing to me as it would be messy to eat and would not have near enough dressing to cover all the rabbit food.
Ironically, the person hosting the Happy Hour said the crab dip didn't taste anything like crab--just a mound of cheese with spinach mixed in. I believe the steak flatbread was a success, though.
Citrus is often busy at night and has been featured as one of Orlando's Best. The atmosphere is really nice and inviting, not too loud. Comfortable and covered outdoor seating is also available and safe during a rainstorm.
So, I would recommend Citrus, but only to carnivores.
